This weekend, I was talking to friends and got on one of my favorite subjects: Epigenetics. Learning about the science of epigenetics and developing commercial applications from the science for the global life insurance industry is simply the most exciting adventure – ever!
Over the weekend I came across this short 4 minute presentation made at the World Economic Forum by Prof. Dr. Maria Elena Torres-Padilla. Professor Padilla is a researcher at the Institute of Epigenetics and Stem Cells (IES), Helmholtz Zentrum München. Their area of study is focused on how transitions in cell potency and cell fate are regulated by chromatin-mediated processes using a variety of approaches including quantitative imaging, modeling, functional genomics, computational methods and cell biology.
I found her presentation relatively straight forward, with quantitative imaging providing amazing graphics for anyone interested in learning more about how your environment impacts who you are today and who you will become tomorrow.
